Kari Hayter is a professional director and educator based in Southern California. She was nominated for the 28th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award Best Direction of a Musical for both Parade at the Chance Theatre and Urinetown, The Musical for Coeurage Theatre Company. She was also nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for theatrical excellence in 2016 for Direction of Urinetown the Musical. Most recently she directed the Los Angeles Critic’s Choice and Ovation Nominated Violet at the Chance Theatre, and In the Heights and The Drowsy Chaperone at the Valley Performing Arts Center. Future projects are: Nate the Great at South Coast Repertory, Hairspray for Palos Verdes Performing Arts and Cabaret for CSU Long Beach. Kari also teaches directing, acting, musical theatre performance, and musical theatre history. She is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
